Situation

Our client was an internationally renowned Children’s Teaching Hospital with a need to develop a strategic direction and plan for their evolving genetics program. The organization was looking at developing a long-term positioning strategy and needed to refocus the organization and operations to implement the strategic direction.

Challenges

The main challenges we faced on this project included:

  • Dealing with the complexities of a multifaceted program involving research, clinical treatment and education
  • Dealing with differing agendas, personalities and value systems
  • Developing an effective and practical strategic plan within the context of rapid change and limited resources

Actions

To address these challenges, our consultants:

  • Worked with senior medical, clinical, research and management staff in defining, assessing and analyzing the strategic challenges
  • Collected available qualitative and quantitative data
  • Worked with senior staff and management in developing a strategic plan
  • Prepared communications material for presentation to Executives on the new strategic direction

Results

At the conclusion of the project all the key success factors had been achieved, and the client was highly satisfied with the project deliverables and the value added by Schroeder & Schroeder Inc. Our actions resulted in:
