Situation

Our client was a Canadian subsidiary of a multi-national company whose head decision-making office was in the US. The Human Resources department of a large, leading-edge, software company needed help designing a program to keep them at the leading edge.

Challenges

The main challenges we faced on this project included:

  • Addressing a variety of complex issues surrounding the job evaluation system, rates of pay, and compensation levels
  • Dealing with competition from other companies in acquiring the right staff for the operation
  • Accommodating a decision-making head office that was located in another country, making the Canadian division’s change process lengthy and involved

Actions

To address these challenges, our consultants:

  • Examined the alignment of the existing rewards system with the overall strategy of the organization
  • Conducted a review of the strategic and business plans and objectives for the organization, identifying the capabilities required to fulfill these objectives
  • Identified the main areas where human resources needed to be focused to help achieve the client’s strategic objectives

Results

At the conclusion of the project all the key success factors had been achieved, and the client was highly satisfied with the project deliverables and the value added by Schroeder & Schroeder Inc. Our actions resulted in:
